If you open any of the Top Spotify artists playlists, a visual looping video is displayed in front of you. This 3-8 seconds visual loop is called Spotify canvas. Few people find it nice to see instead of the static images. And the best thing is Spotify states, it is the mobile data-optimized loop.

What is Spotify Canvas ?

Canvas is a 3 – 8 second visual loop that can be added in Spotify to tracks that appear in now Playing View in replace of your album artwork. It's a new format for sharing artist expressions.

You should make a canvas in a vertical format so that it covers your smartphone screen. As it is a visual loop, no audio will be added in it. Try to use your own content, if you have to add someone else content first take permission.

How to add Canvas to Spotify

Spotify Desktop app

You need to follow below steps on Spotify Desktop app to add Spotify canvas.

  • You have to Log in to Spotify for Artists.
  • Navigate to Music.
  • Or you can video upload.
  • Select a song and click ADD CANVAS.
  • Click the + sign then upload your file.
  • Listeners will start to see it within 1 hour of uploading.
Note: You should make sure you have all the legal rights to publish this canvas.

Spotify Desktop app

  1. Open and log into the Spotify for Artists mobile app.
  2. Go to profile.
  3. Pick a release or an upcoming release.
  4. Tap + next to a song.
  5. Tap the big +.
  6. Choose a file. You can trim it if needed.
  7. Review it, and tap Next.
  8. Tap Post Canvas.

How to remove Spotify Canvas

Desktop app

  1. Login to Spotify for Artists.
  2. Click VIEW CANVAS.
  3. Click REMOVE CANVAS.

Desktop app

  1. Open the song and click play button next to the song.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. And remove Canvas.
